New Years Eve

MAD SCIENTIST!

Happy New Year!!! We went to Lowe's hardware tonight to get a wood rasp so we can get started with J on the Cub Scouts Space Derby. We picked up some little magnets he saw in the hardware section as well. Who knew magnets were so fun??

J wants to design his rocket to look like the space shuttle. That is taking something rectangular and trying to make it triagular....so who knows?? Mom is not part of the design team.

Christmas/Birthday

J's birthday is next week. He had some gift certificates and birthday money from Auntie Julie and Uncle Joe burning a hole in his pocket. So we went to Toys-R-Us and Target and got some more lego's. J was in Lego heaven! He could hardly wait to get home to put the sets together.

J and Dad put together this Lego StarWars # 7658 Y-wing fighter. The middle part was tricky to assemble but otherwise was not too hard. He also got the Droids battle pack #7654. J loves the mini figures.

Today J made a "Model Shop" This is the sign at the entrance. Yes I censored his name. I try not to put any personal information about him on this blog. To translate it says Rules: closed at 9:30 and Middle is Lunch. No buying. J's Model Shop. He also built a scanner at the entrance to "check people for weapons" (I think he got that from the airport..but I imagine he is serious about operating a secure shop)

This shows the scanner still and in motion. It uses some Lego Technic pieces and Motor from set #7287.

Once you pass security the shop is set up on his workbench. The stock has been changing by the minute all day as legos are assembled and disassembled!

Christmas Eve 2007

J Got many great gifts from his Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents on Christmas Eve night. But the big hit of the evening was the Lego #7661 Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring. The assembly was a bit much for a six year old. The age on the box said 9-12. So J and Dad had to work hard to get it together before bedtime. We were very worried that Santa might pass us by if we were not asleep early enough.

What is big and red and eats rocks??

This is J's favorite riddle/joke EVER!! We have heard it 1000 times. His dad told it to him when he was four and it just doesn't seem to get old. It is from an old book called Bennett Cerf's Book of Riddles It is a classic. J loves to read riddle and joke books. Here is some interesting info about Bennett Cerf.

Tank Carrier

This one is slightly altered from the original. Mom was not quick enough. In the original the tank was attached at the bottom of the space ship, but it kept falling off because it was too heavy. Pretty cool huh?

boys with toys

Daddy made this. And took a picture of it. All by himself. I think daddy is feeling left out. Maybe daddy needs his own blog???

bomber, spaceship, landing craft

Detail of bomb bay doors

Space ship on left. Bomber on right

"landing craft"

droid and soldier with rocket launcher.

We have not had the camera for awhile, so his is very excited about posting pictures to his blog and is in lego creation overload!

NCC-1701

Ok...this one is not that great. But if you think about the fact that he has not seen a star trek episode in at least 6 months, and the fact he did this in about 5 minutes before we left the house...I was actually impressed.

Star Wars gun platform

This vehicle is reminiscent of the scooters from return of the jedi...only bigger and more complex.

Super Cool Landing Gear!

He made this one over a week ago. We don't own the digital camera we use. We have to borrow it from grandma. So we convinced him to let us keep this intact until we could borrow the camera again. We were so impressed by his landing gear design in this model.

Christmas Tree Shopping

We went off today and selected a christmas tree. J worked hard to choose just the right one. He will be 7 in January. He is so excited about Christmas this year. It will be lots of fun!
