Raccoon

We had some excitement last night. The dogs were barking like crazy. We thought they wanted to go outside so dad went to open the door. This fellow tried to walk right into the house! He is not afraid of people at all...which is very scary! Dad finally got him scared away by banging sticks on our grill, making a loud noise. We shall keep the dog's food inside in the future.

Fish Tank

This weekend we set up a fish tank for J. If you look close you can see two neon tetras above the right half of the submarine. J has named the three fish Sally, Oscar, and Sammy. Sammy has not been doing too well. We are afraid he will not make it. But Sally and Oscar seem ok so far.

Catching Up

J has been sick...then mom...and now dad! So it has been a tough few weeks for us. I will post a few pics today to try to catch up.

Fun Weekend

Whenever J earns 15 star stickers he usually gets to choose a toy from the store. Usually it is a hot wheels car, or a small Lego set. We went to toys-r-us to look for his toy and we found this on the 75% off clearence table: Lego Creator Roaring Roadsters 4896! The only downside was that is was super hard to put together. It took dad 4 hours to do....J got so sleepy he had to go to bed before it was finished.

This is soooooo cool! This is seriously the coolest Lego set we have put together! EVERYTHING in the car works! It has adjustable seats, adjustable headrests, the peadals move, the shifter moves, the emergency break moves, it has working rack and pinion stearing, the hood opens, the trunk opens, the sideview mirrors adjust, the doors open. J has been fascinated by this all day (Dad and Mom too)! A lego set has never remained assembled this long before. And there are instructions for making two other vehicles from the same set.

Also today we went to another workshop at lowes and he made a periscope!

And mom spent hours downloading updates to windows XP so she could get Microsoft Movie Maker 2.1 installed (free) on the computer. This is a super easy to use and fun software for making movies with your digital camera!

Pinewood Derby Race Day!!!

THE BIG DAY!J's car wins 2nd place overall after a very exciting race day!

Above is a picture of our troop's race track. Just out of the frame at the bottom are two ramps that launch the cars into a pile of blankets for a crash landing. On this track the left lane is faster than the right. To win a race a car has to win on BOTH sides of the track.
Above is J's gold car on the left hand lane and the 1st place winner's car on the right hand lane. These two cars were so closely matched that it took 5 or 6 runs to determine the winner!

Everyone had a really great time. J made us so proud by demonstrating such good sportsmanship and a positive attitude! And winning was fun too!
