2nd Grade Assignment- Journal your weekend with Yertle!

This weekend was J's turn to take home Yertle the turtle. Yertle is his 2nd grade class mascot. Each week a different student gets to take Yertle home and contribute to Yertle's Journal. Yertle arrived at our house on Friday. We went out to J's favorite mexican restaurant and had Arroz con Pollo. Then came home and played a little Guitar Hero and went to bed.

Saturday was a big day. Apart from being dragged around shopping with mom and dad, J and Yertle did get to have fun at a local museum. Yertle's favorite part was the spin chair that goes fast when you pull your arms and legs in and goes slow when you stick them back out. He also got a piggyback ride on a SEGWAY.

After the museum there was a Civil War reenactment in front of the library across the street. Yertle really liked the cannon, but we didn't want to give him any more ideas about how to be king of the pond again, so we went to the library to read him his story.

Sunday we went to visit paw paw and showed Yertle his tractor. We also watched the superbowl and Yertle got special 3-D glasses for the half-time show.

Monday J went to school but Yertle had a cough and a cold and stayed at home. But later he felt well enough to go to the Dentist and the Library with J.
